Clark House News - January 2021
Like so many businesses in our community, the Marketplace at Clark House experienced financial hardship in 2020. However, we managed to remain open, on a restricted schedule, for a COVID safe shopping experience! Admittedly revenue was low BUT enthusiasm from our vendors, shoppers, Carol Backus (Manager), and our Board remained high. We have added on line shopping to our website www.waddingtonmarketplace.com and hope that customers will take advantage of this opportunity during the winter months when we are closed for foot traffic. We are also available during these months for personal shopping by contacting the Manager at 315-323-2522.
Fund Raising Challenge
Clark House was awarded a matching grant in 2020 from the Sweetwater Foundation to install a historically accurate (circa 1900) replication of the ceiling on the first floor of Clark House. This was a matching grant challenge requiring Clark House to raise $7500 through donations from community supporters. The pandemic prevented us from pursuing the grant last year. We have been given the opportunity to secure the grant this year IF we can raise the matching amount by June 1, 2021. Over the next few weeks we will be developing a onetime fund raising campaign to demonstrate, near and far, that our community recognizes the value of continued renovation of Clark House and promotion of the Waddington Visitors’ Center. Fund raising details will be available at www.waddingtonmarketplace.com by mid-February! Thanking you in advance for helping us meet this challenge!
