Frequently Asked Questions
How much space can I rent? We offer a few options but pretty much we give each merchant the type of space they need.; floor space, wall space, window space or a combination. We merchandise the stores like a gift shop rather than a craft show.
Do I have to be in the store every day to sell my items? We have a marketing manager, but encourage our vendors to spend time in the store as our customers like to hear the stories behind the creativity of our artisans and makers.
How does the register system work? Each merchant is assigned a merchant code that is to be included on your price tags. All prices should include sales tax and rounded up to the nearest dollar. All items get rung up at one Point of Sale register. Sales are tracked by merchant code and paid weekly by check.
Do I need to provide my own shelving/tables to merchandise my wares? You are encouraged to bring in your own merchandising displays. We do have some shelving and furniture so the store is creatively merchandised.
How are sales made?
We have one point of sale register in the store where sales are rung up. Each merchant is assigned a merchant code that you will include on your price tags. Your merchandise will be rung under your merchant number. Each day we are able to report sales by merchant. We pay out your sales on a bi-weekly basis.
Sales Tax
We ask that you price your items to include sales tax and round to the nearest dollar (that way we can avoid needing change and it will be your responsibility to report sales tax).
Marketing
We market and advertise Waddington Marketplace and Studio to the North Country, Canada, Adirondack, and Central New York Regions. We also promote at local and regional events. We list all of our vendors on our website, and link to your website or Facebook page, as well as feature each vendor on the Waddington Marketplace Facebook page at various times. The best form of marketing is word-of-mouth, so we highly encourage regular vendor participation in the marketplace.
